Good lighting makes good pictures. We’ve all experienced how wonderful a professional photographer can make us look. They paint with light. You can paint with light on video too. I found this video produced by the excellent Gavin Hoey. He shows how to use a 3 light setup in a coventional 3 point lighting setup he also shows how to light a white background.
After viewing this video you will understand how 3 point lighting works. Remember that the Key light is the brightest light and should be placed on one side of the face while the less bright Fill light is on the other side. Finally the Hair or Back light points from behind toward the back of the head and creates the final finishing touch.
